First of we have something called "Monthly deploy". This happens, surprise, once a month. All solutions are synced and are getting the latest code base from GoBasic and selected new features. This process is done by backend developers. But once in a while you will need to push hot fixes for clients. This is what this guide is about.
In order to do a hot fix deploy you will need to do the following:
- Compile and minify the theme that needs to be deployed. See the guide about Grunt here.
- Go to the production server via remote desktop app and use server info to login (remember to set up a folder for your local "GoBasic Solutions" that you can access in your remote session). Server info can be found here.
- On the server navigate to: "inetpub / webs / [CLIENT solution] / Themes"
- Open another window and navigate to your local machines "Theme" folder for the specific client eg. "GoBasic Solutions / [CLIENT solution] / Themes"
- Overwrite the "Release" with your local "Release" folder.
- Go one step back to "[CLIENT solution]" and right click on the "deploy.txt" file and click "Edit with Notepad++" increase the number in the file by one eg "122323" will be "122324" click save. This step should be done after the release files are uploaded.
Done! Hot fix deployed!
